Hi my name is Kara and in today IELTS speaking lesson video we are going to talk about holiday vacation places you&39;ve been to. Your examiner might ask you where have you gone on vacation before, or where will you go on vacation next.
嗨,我叫卡拉,在今天的雅思口語課視頻中我們要談論你度假時去過的地方。考官可能會問你以前去過哪里度假,或接下來要去哪里度假。
So let&39;s learn some phrases to talk about travel. Number one, on our list we have take a vacation or go on a vacation to somewhere.
我們來學習一些談論旅行的短語。清單上的第一個是去某地度假或休假。
They both mean the same thing, take a vacation or go on a vacation. You can use this phrase instead of travel, if you are saying travel too much in your response.
它們意思一樣,度假或休假。你可以用這個短語來代替旅行,如果你在回答中使用了太多次旅行。
Take a vacation means that you stopped your work, or you stop your school to visit somewhere. So for example, if you are talking about the future, you can say I will take a vacation to Thailand, or I will go on a vacation to Thailand with my family next winter.
休假指的是你為了參觀某地停止工作或不去上學。例如,如果你在談論未來,你可以說我要到泰國度假,或者我明年冬天要和家人去泰國度假。
If you&39;ve already gone on the vacation, you can instead say, I took a vacation to Thailand, or I went on a vacation to Thailand. Both of these phrases work instead of travel.
如果你已經去度假了,你可以說,我去泰國度假了,或者我去泰國休假。這兩個短語都可以代替旅行。
Okay, next on our list we have take a sightseeing tour of somewhere. This means that you hire a guide, hire a person to show you around an area.
好的,接下來在我們有,去某地進行觀光游。這意味著你雇了一個導游,雇了一個人帶你參觀某地。
They take you to different places. Now notice here.
他們把你帶到不同的地方。請注意這里。
They&39;ll show you more than one place during a sightseeing tour. So for example, I could say, I took, before, a sightseeing tour of London.
他們會在觀光旅游中帶你參觀不止一個地方。例如,我可以說我之前在倫敦進行了觀光旅行。
We hired a guide and he showed us so many different places around London. Or for the future tense: I&39;ll take a sightseeing tour of London when I go there next fall.
我們雇了一個導游,他向帶我們去了倫敦的許多不同的地方。或者用將來時態:我明年秋天去倫敦的時候要觀光旅行。
Sound good. Number three on our list, go sightseeing.
聽起來不錯。第三個是觀光。
This just means that you see the sights. You go to interesting places.
這指的是你去看各個景點。你去一些有趣的地方。
Interesting places. Now to go sightseeing, you do not need to hire a guide, the way you do need to during a sightseeing tour.
有趣的地方。觀光的時候你不需要雇導游,這是你在觀光旅游中要做的。
So here, hire a guide. You don&39;t need to do that when you go sightseeing.
所以這里,雇一個導游。你觀光的時候不需要這么做。
You can do it by yourself. For example, when I went to London, I went sightseeing and I saw Big Ben.
你可以自己做。例如,當我去倫敦時,我去觀光了,我看到了大本鐘。
Sound good. Next, we have go on a cruise.
聽起來不錯。下一個是坐游輪。
When you go on a cruise, you are on a very big ship, a large boat. And you go from city to city to city while you are on the cruise.
坐游輪指的是你乘坐的是一艘大船。你坐游輪從一個城市到另一個城市。
So you could say, last winter, I went on a cruise in the Caribbean with my family. Or, next Christmas, I will go on a cruise with my family in the Caribbean.
所以你可以說,去年冬天我和家人坐游輪去了加勒比海。或者,明年圣誕我要和家人坐游輪去加勒比海。
Sound okay. Alright, next on our list we have signed up for a guided tour, or sign up for guided tours.
聽起來還可以。好的,下一個是報名參加有導游的旅行。
Now, guided tours are a little different from sightseeing tours, because they&39;re usually just in one place, in a small area. So here I will write one place.
有導游的旅行與觀光游幾乎沒有什么不同,因為它們通常就在一個地方,在一個小區域。所以在這里我要寫一個地方。
They are for a specific part of a city. Now sometimes they cost money, and sometimes they are free.
他們針對的是城市的某個部分。有時要花錢,有時是免費的。
So they may or may not cost money. And they&39;re usually just in one place.
所以它們可能會花錢或可能不會。而且它們通常只在一個地方。
I could say, my family and I signed up for a guided tour of a castle in Germany. Or we will sign up for a guided tour when we visit Switzerland.
我可以說,我和我的家人報名參加了德國一個城堡地帶的跟團游覽。或者當我們去瑞士旅行時,我們將報名參加帶導游的游覽。
So we see everything there is to see. Sound good.
所以我們在那里看到了一切。聽起來不錯。
OK, let&39;s move on to next on our list. Come on package holiday.
好的,我們繼續講下一個。進行包價旅游。
This meets that all your expenses are together. Your travel, your accommodation, your food, your activities, everything you will need to pay for on vacation is all together in one price.
這意味著你所有的花費都算在一起。你的旅行,住宿,食物,活動,你需要在度假中支付的所有事項的錢都算在一個價錢里。
People like going on package holiday, because they don&39;t need to worry about money during their vacation. So you could say, my family and I prefer to come on package holiday when we go on vacation, so we don&39;t need to worry about money.
人們喜歡包價旅游,因為他們不必在度假期間擔心錢的問題。所以你可以說,我的家人和我更喜歡在度假時進行包價旅游,這樣我們就不必擔心錢了。
OK, cool. Next on our list: travel during the offseason.
好的,不錯。我們清單上的下一個:在淡季旅行。
Offseason is talking about the time of year when not a lot of people are traveling. So, not a lot of people traveling offseason.
淡季是指一年中沒有多少人旅行的時候。所以淡季旅行的人不多。
Traveling during the offseason can be really nice, because it&39;s usually cheaper and places aren&39;t so crowded. For example, you could say, I went to the Coliseum during the offseason, so it wasn&39;t too crowded and I got a lot of nice pictures.
在淡季旅行真的很不錯,因為它通常更便宜,而且景點不會那么擁擠。例如,你可以說,我在淡季去了角斗場,所以那里不太擁擠,而且我拍了很多漂亮的照片。
Offseason changes it depends where you are in the world. But usually in the West, offseason is from November until March.
淡季會根據你在世界上的位置而變化。但通常在西方淡季是從十一月到三月。
OK, so all it means is not a lot of people are traveling then. If you don&39;t travel during the offseason, then it will be crowded and more expensive.
好的,所以這意味著那時沒有很多人旅游。如果你不在淡季旅行,就會變得擁擠和昂貴。
You could tell your examiner, I wish I had traveled during the offseason, because when I went to the Coliseum, it was too crowded. Sound good.
你可以告訴考官,我希望在淡季旅行,因為我去角斗場的時候太擁擠了。聽起來不錯。
All right, let&39;s move on, to have the time of my life. Or you could also say the holiday of a lifetime.
好的,我們繼續,度過人生中最愉快的時刻。或者你可以說人生最愉快的假期。
That means you went on the best trip ever. You went on a vacation so good.
這意味著你經歷了有史以來最好的旅行。你度假很愉快。
You will never forget the wonderful time you had. So you could say, when I went to Jordan last year, I had the time of my life.
你將永遠不會忘記度過的美好時光。所以你可以說,去年我去約旦的時候,我度過了人生中最愉快的時刻。
Or, I really really want to go to Egypt. I really think it would be the holiday of a lifetime, best trip ever.
或者,我真的很想去埃及。我真的認為那會是終身難忘的旅程,最棒的旅行。
Okay, now it&39;s time to focus on words that describe tourist attraction, words to talk about the specific things you saw while you are on your vacation. So let&39;s dive right in.
現在該專注于描述旅游景點的單詞,談論你在旅途中看到的特定事物的單詞。我們進入主題吧。
First, we have scenic and scenery. These words are obviously related, but they&39;re a little different.
讓我們先潛水吧,我們有風景和風景。這些單詞顯然是相關的,但有些不同。
So let&39;s take a look. Scenic is an adjective, adj.
所以我們來看看。風景優美的的形容詞,adj。
That means you need to use it with a noun. So I might describe a scenic tour.
這意味著你需要將它與名詞配合使用。例如,我可能會描述一次風景優美的旅行。
For example, I went on a scenic tour of the countryside in Switzerland. So you can see there I use it with a noun, scenic tour, scenic hike, scenic sightseeing, what have you.
例如,我在瑞士的鄉村進行了一次風景優美的游覽。所以你可以看到那里我將它與名詞一起使用,風景優美的旅行,風景優美的遠足,風景優美的觀光,什么都行。
Whereas scenery is a noun. So I&39;ll put n for noun.
而風景是一個名詞。所以我要寫一個 n 代表名詞。
This you can talk about perhaps ocean scenery. Perhaps you could say the ocean scenery in the Philippines is so beautiful.
你可以談論海洋風光。或者你可以說菲律賓的海洋風光是如此美麗。
Or the mountainous scenery in Switzerland is to die for, so beautiful to see. Next word that we have, see a breathtaking view of something.
或者瑞士的山巒風光讓人如癡如醉,太美麗了。我們的下一個詞是某物令人嘆為觀止的景象。
Breathtaking is when something is so amazing. It takes your breath away.
令人嘆為觀止指的是某物太美妙了。它使你無法呼吸。
So you stop breathing, because you&39;re so excited. So breathtaking, takes your breath.
所以你停止呼吸,因為你太興奮了。所以嘆為觀止,讓你無法呼吸。
An example of this, I might use is for Petra. So I have been to Petra before.
我可能會用佩特拉古城來舉例。所以我之前去過佩特拉古城。
So instead of saying see, I would say saw. I saw a breathtaking view of Petra while I was in Jordan.
所以我不說 see,我會說 saw。我在約旦的時候看到了佩特拉古城令人嘆為觀止的景象。
So think of amazing places you&39;ve seen that took your breath away and tell your examiner I saw a breathtaking view of this while I was on vacation. Next, we have sandy beach, or rocky beach.
所以想想你所見過的令人驚嘆的地方并告訴你的考官,我度假的時候看到了這里嘆為觀止的景象。下面,我們有沙灘或石灘。
So when you go to the beach by the ocean, look down at your feet. Is it sandy or is it rocky?
所以當你海邊的海灘時,低頭看著你的腳。是沙還是巖石?
An example of a place with the sandy beach might be Mexico. You could tell your examiner, I stayed at a beautiful white sandy beach while I was vacationing in Mexico.
有沙灘的地方可能是墨西哥。你可以告訴考官,我在墨西哥度假時住在一個美麗的白色沙灘上。
Or we also have rocky beaches, lots of rocks, big boulders all around you. You might be more likely to see this at a lake, a freshwater lake.
或者我們也有石灘,你周圍有很多石頭,圓石。你更有可能在湖中,淡水湖中看到它。
So you could tell your examiner, I went on vacation to a rocky beach in a lake in Canada. Okay, next we have touristy or having hordes of tourists.
所以你可以告訴你的考官,我去加拿大一個湖中的石灘度假了。好的,下一個是游客眾多的的或有成群的游客。
That word might feel a little weird, so you can practice having hordes of tourists. Hordes means so much, so many tourists, too many people, too many people, too many tourists in one spot.
這個詞可能會有點奇怪,所以你可以練習說有成群的游客。成群的意思是某個地方的游客太多,人太多了。
An example of a place that you might describe as touristy is the Coliseum. Right, people from all over the world are always going there to take a look.
角斗場就是你可能會形容為游客眾多的一個例子。來自世界各地的人總是去那里看看。
You could say I went to Rome and really enjoyed my time there, but the Colosseum was a little too touristy for me. You could also say, I went to the Colosseum, but it had hordes of tourists.
你可以說我去了羅馬,在那里真的玩得很開心,但是角斗場的游客對我來說太多了。你還可以說,我去了角斗場,但是那里有成群的游客。
So it was difficult to take a nice picture there. And then last, we have not for the faint-hearted.
所以在那里很難拍一張好照片。最后我們有不適合膽小鬼的。
Faint-hearted means you are timid, shy. You get scared easily.
膽小鬼指的是你膽小害羞。你容易被嚇到。
You don&39;t like to take big risks. So this whole phrase not for the faint-hearted means you need to be brave to enjoy this site.
你不愿冒險。所以不適合膽小者這個短語意味著你需要勇敢才能享受這個景點。
An example of a famous site that might not be for the faint-hearted is the Catacombs. You could say, I went to the Catacombs while I was visiting Paris, but it is not for the faint-hearted because there are dead bodies everywhere.
一個可能不適合膽小的人的著名景點的例子就是地下墓穴。你可以說,我游覽巴黎的時候去了地下墓穴,但這不適合膽小的人,因為到處都有尸體。
Okay, last for today&39;s lesson, we are going to talk about places to stay on holiday. Your examiner will ask you where do you usually like to stay when you go on vacation.
好的,今天課程的最后,我們要談談度假時待的地方。你的考官會問你,你度假的時候通常喜歡住在哪里?
So we will go over different places to stay, and you can practice which response is best for you. Number one on our list, we have holiday resorts.
所以我們會待在不同的地方,你可以練習最適合你的回復。我們列出的第一個是度假勝地。
These are the best places to eat, drink, sleep, and play. These are big places where you will not only go to bed at night, but you also have restaurants to eat, bars to drink.
這些是吃飯,喝酒,睡覺,玩耍的最佳場所。這些地方很大,在那里你不僅可以在晚上睡覺,而且你還可以在餐廳用餐,在酒吧喝酒。
And they usually will host activities where you can play with your friends and family. So if your examiner asks you, where do you usually like to stay on vacation, you could say, I always try to go to a holiday resort, because everything I want is taken care of right there.
他們通常會舉辦一些你可以和朋友和家人一起玩的活動。所以如果你的考官問你,你度假的時候通常喜歡在哪里度假,你可以說,我總是嘗試去度假勝地,因為在那里我想要的一切都有照應。
Sound good. Okay, let&39;s move on to number two, self-catering apartments.
聽起來不錯。好的,我們繼續第二個,自炊式公寓。
So catering is talking about getting food to you. Self is you.
所以餐飲指的是給你食物。自己指的是你。
Therefore, a self-catering apartment is somewhere you can cook for yourself. It doesn&39;t have a restaurant like at a holiday resort.
因此,自炊式公寓指的是你可以給自己做飯的地方。像度假勝地那樣的地方沒有餐廳。
So you could perhaps tell your examiner, I prefer to stay at a self-catering apartment when I go on vacation, because I like cooking for myself and it is less expensive. Sound good.
所以你也許可以告訴你的考官,我度假的時候更喜歡住自炊式公寓,因為我喜歡自己做飯,而且這樣更便宜一些。聽起來不錯。
Okay, let&39;s move on to number three. We have bed and breakfast.
好的,我們繼續看第三個。我們有提供住宿與早餐的旅館。
As the name might suggest, this is a place where you can sleep. And in the morning, when you wake up, they will serve you breakfast.
正如名字所示,這是一個可以睡覺的地方。早晨起床時,他們會為你提供早餐。
As the name also suggests, they don&39;t give you lunch and dinner. So you have the opportunity to go to sleep, wake up, eat breakfast and then go out for your day.
還如名字所示,他們不給你提供午餐和晚餐。所以你有機會睡覺、起床、吃早飯,然后出去吃一天。
So maybe you&39;ll tell your examiner, I prefer to stay at bed-and-breakfast, because then I don&39;t have to worry what I will eat in the morning, but I am free to go out on my own in the afternoon and evening. And then last, we have youth hostels.
所以也許你會告訴你的考官,我更喜歡住在提供住宿與早餐的旅館,因為那樣我就不必擔心早上吃什么,但我下午和晚上可以自由地出行。最后,我們有青年旅館。
You can also just say hostels if you prefer. These places are cheap.
如果你喜歡的話,也可以也只說旅館。這些地方很便宜。
They don&39;t cost a lot of money, but they&39;re not the nicest accommodations while you are on vacation. They also usually have a shared space.
它們不會花很多錢,但是它們不是你度假時最好的住宿。它們通常也有一個共享的空間。
This means that you probably won&39;t have a bed in your own room. You probably won&39;t have your own bathroom.
這意味著你可能不會在自己的房間里有床。你可能不會有您自己的浴室。
A youth hostel shares these spaces, so you will sleep together. You will have a shared bathroom together.
青年旅舍會共享這些空間,因此你們會睡在一起。你們會有一個共用浴室。
And they are usually used by young people, because they are so cheap. So perhaps you could tell your examiner, when I was younger, I usually enjoyed going to youth hostels went on. . . when I went on vacation, because I didn&39;t have a lot of money.
它們通常是由年輕人使用,因為它們如此便宜。所以也許你可以告訴你的考官,我年輕時度假的時候通常喜歡去青年旅社,因為我沒有很多錢。
But now that I&39;m older, I prefer to stay at bed-and-breakfast, because they are much nicer. Hi, I&39;m teacher Neil.
但是現在我年紀大一點,我更喜歡住在提供住宿與早餐的旅館,因為它們更好。嗨,我是尼爾老師。
Last week, teacher Cara was teaching you about travel and travel destinations. And this week, we will continue on with what she has already taught.
上周卡拉老師教了你們關于旅行和旅行目的地的內容。本周我們將繼續介紹她教的內容。
And we will start with vocabulary to describe the places you want to travel to. So if you get asked, if you go on holiday or vacation, what kind of places do you like to go to, or what activities do you like to do, or where do you like to go when you travel, you can use these useful phrases to describe in detail what you really want to say.
我們將從描述你想要去旅行的地方的詞匯開始講。所以如果有人問你,如果你去度假,你喜歡去什么地方,或者你喜歡做什么活動,或者你旅行的時候喜歡去哪里,你可以使用這些有用的短語來詳細描述你真正想說的話。
So let&39;s start. Number one, somewhere off the beaten track, or untouched pristine nature, or pristine landscapes.
我們開始吧。第一個,人跡罕至的地方或原始的自然或原始的風景。
So what that means is you go to someplace that many people don&39;t usually go to. So these are uncommon places, uncommon places, or not the usual places.
所以這意味著你去的地方很多人通常不去。所以這些是不常見的地方,不常見的地方,或者不平常的地方。
So if someone asks you a question, you can say, you know, when I travel, I like to go somewhere off the beaten track. I don&39;t want to go to where everyone else goes to.
所以如果有人問你問題,你可以說,你知道的,我旅行時喜歡去人跡罕至的地方。我不想去別人都去的地方。
You can also use the word untouched. Untouched means that not a lot of cities.
你也可以使用“untouched”一詞。意思是沒有很多城市。
You know, it is very natural, not a lot of human influence. Pristine also means it is very new.
你知道的,這里很自然,沒有太多的人為影響。原始的也意味著它是非常新的。
It is unspoiled. It is untouched by human hands.
沒有被破壞。它沒有被人類觸及。
It is still very natural. So you can use these two words to describe things like nature or a landscape.
它仍然很自然。因此你可以使用這兩個詞來形容自然或風景。
A landscape, of course, is the view of the nature. So you can say, when I like to travel, I like to go to untouched places.
當然,風景指的是自然的景象。所以你可以說,我喜歡旅行時去未經觸及的地方。
I like to see pristine nature and I like to see beautiful landscapes, somewhere off the beaten track where I know there will not be a lot of tourists. Speaking of tourists, let&39;s look at these words to describe some tourist places.
我喜歡看原始的自然,我喜歡看美麗的風景,人跡罕至的地方,我知道那里不會有很多游客。說到游客,我們看看這些描述旅游景點的詞。
Tourist traps. Now of course if you don&39;t know what a trap means, a trap means it will catch you and you can&39;t get out.
熱門景點。如果你不知道陷阱的含義,陷阱指的是它會吸引你,你無法離開。
So what a tourist trap means is it is a place that always attracts and catches the tourists and maybe they won&39;t want to leave for a little while. So there will always be a lot of people because it is a big attraction.
所以熱門景點的意思是這是一個總是吸引游客的地方,也許他們一會兒也不想離開。所以那里總是會有很多人,因為這是一個有很大的吸引力的地方。
So you can say, when I travel, I try to avoid the tourist traps, because I don&39;t like to be surrounded by too many people. But that does not stop me from going to a tourist attraction.
所以你可以說,我旅行時盡量避免熱門景點,因為我不喜歡被太多的人包圍。但這并不能阻止我去旅游勝地。
An attraction of course the word attract means it will bring you to it. So you want to go and that includes words such as an iconic landmark.
圣地,當然吸引意味著它將你帶過去。所以你想去那里,其中包括像標志性地標之類的詞。
Iconic means very famous. So iconic landmark is something that when you open a travel book, it will say you have to go there.
標志性的意味著非常有名。所以標志性地標是當你打開旅行手冊時,上面會說你必須去的地方。
It is a very famous place. So that will usually be a tourist attraction.
這是一個非常有名的地方。因此它通常會是一個旅游勝地。
Holiday destination, of course, means. . . destination means place. . . so it just means a holiday place. But usually when we use the word holiday destination, it is also a famous or popular place.
旅行目的地,當然,意味著......目的地表示某個地點,所以就是指度假的地方。但通常當我們使用度假勝地一詞時,它也是一個有名的地方或受歡迎的地方。
So you can say, when I go on vacation, I like to go to famous holiday destinations. I like to see the tourist attractions and I always make sure to visit the iconic landmarks because I like to take pictures of them and show to my friends.
所以你可以說,我度假時喜歡去著名的度假勝地。我喜歡看旅游景點,而且我總是確保要參觀標志性的地標,因為我喜歡為它們拍照并給我的朋友們看。
Moving on, local places of interest. So you will probably see this word in a travel book or in a travel guide.
繼續,當地的名勝。所以你可能會在旅行書或旅行指南中看到這個詞。
So when you want to go to a place, let&39;s say to Spain, it will say local places of interests. Interest means interesting, of course, or places people would want to go to.
所以當你想去某個地方時,比如說在西班牙,它會說當地名勝。名勝指的是人們想要去的地方。
Local places of interest include the beach, the market, or the very popular iconic landmark. So you can say, when I go on vacation, I always make sure to look at the local places of interest like the iconic landmarks.
當地的名勝包括海灘、市場,或非常受歡迎的標志性地標。所以你可以說,我度假時總是確保去看當地的名勝,例如標志性地標。
Moving on, metropolitan cities, metropolitan cities. Metropolitan means very big or very crowded, for example, Tokyo.
繼續,大都市,大都市。大都會意味著很大或非常擁擠,例如東京。
Tokyo is a very famous metropolitan city. So you can say either I love metropolitan cities, I love the energy of big places and I like to meet people from all around the world, or you can say, I try to avoid metropolitan cities.
東京是非常有名的大都市。所以你可以說我愛大都市,我愛充滿活力的大地方,我喜歡結識來自世界各地的人,或者你可以說,我盡量避開大都市。
I prefer somewhere off the beaten track where I can see the untouched landscapes. Backpacking destinations, of course, means. . .
我更喜歡人跡罕至的地方,在那里我可以看到未受破壞的風景。背包旅行目的地當然指的是......
Destinations, we know, means a place. And backpacking is if you take all your things on a backpack and you go and move from place to place to place, it&39;s not like you will stay in one hotel all the time.
我們知道,目的地指的是一個地方。背包旅行指的是你把所有的東西都放在背包里,然后從一個地方到另一個地方,你不會一直呆在一家旅館里。
Backpacking usually means there will be a lot of traveling. So for example, if you go to Europe or Spain, you can say me and my wife, we like to go to many backpacking destinations.
背包旅行通常意味著會有很多趟旅行。例如,如果你去歐洲或西班牙,你可以說我和我的妻子,我們喜歡去很多背包旅行的目的地。
And we will go from hostel to hostel and just backpack everywhere and stay with new people and experience new things. Moving on, historic sites and heritage site.
我們從一個旅社到另一個旅社,到處背包旅行,與新朋友一起體驗新事物。繼續,歷史遺跡和文物古跡。
So historic comes from the word history. So that will mean it is famous because of the history of the site.
歷史的來源于歷史這個詞。聞名。所以這將意味著這個地方因其歷史而有名。
The site means the place or the area. And heritage usually means that it is very important to the people&39;s culture or their history.
地點指那個地方或地區。而遺跡通常是指這個地點對人們的文化或他們的歷史非常重要。
So you can say, when I go traveling, I like to visit the historic sites and the heritage sites, because I like to learn more about the culture and learn more about the history of the people. And that is the end of our lesson on vocabulary of places that you would want to travel to.
所以你可以說,當我旅行時,我喜歡參觀歷史古跡和遺跡,因為我想更了解文化和那里的人的歷史。這節關于你想要旅行的地方的詞匯課就到此結束。
